Support the philosophy of the Bilingual ESL Department
Assist Director in supporting program implementation of Dual Language and ESL programs
Provide data analysis and ongoing support to department instructional specialists, principals, campus instructional coaches, lead instructional coaches, and executive directors within school leadership around program implementation and meeting the needs of English Learners
Assist with instructionally-focused campus visits to facilitate and support the implementation of Bilingual ESL instructional programs, services, tools, and resources
Coordinate and support the collaborative work with content and enrichment programs to provide Els with equitable academic and linguistic access to the curriculum
Assist the Director with coordinating the development and implementation of programs that meet the needs of English Learners
Work in collaboration with planning teams (both at district and campus level) to improve the quality of service and instruction for English Learners (ELs) that are in alignment with district policy and initiatives as well as federal and state guidelines
Collaborate with content and enrichment programs to provide ELs with equitable academic and linguistic access to the curriculum
Provide expertise and technical assistance to campuses in supporting the linguistic and academic achievement of ELs
Develop and maintain positive, collegial working relationships with peers/co-workers, leadership personnel, campus administrators, and teachers
Contribute as a constructive and collaborative Bilingual/ESL team member
Work required evenings and Saturdays as required for Bilingual ESL Department and district events
Five years of successful teaching experience working with English Learners
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skill required to achieve the goals of the position
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred} from an accredited university; valid teaching certificate and/or administrator certificate
Ability to create, implement, present, and edit/revise written communication in all forms (print and electronic), resulting in products that are technically precise, accurate, and readable
Successful experience in practices which improve implementation of strategies and best practices for English Learners
Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and conducting effective professional development
Demonstrated skills in building teamwork and working well with others, while problem-solving, and taking initiative
Ability to support all district and department goals and objectives
Ability to provide leadership to support all district and departmental goals and objectives
Academic Language Proficiency in English and Spanish (in all four language domains: Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading)
