UW Continuum College (UWC2) an outstanding opportunity for a part-time course developer who will provide subject matter expertise and create/revise content for a new non-credit quarter-long in-person course for international professionals studying International Entrepreneurship & Communication (BEC) within the International & English Language Programs unit. This will be an intensive 18 hour-per-week course. The Course Developer will work with the BEC program manager and other supporting staff to create content that is relevant to international adult learners seeking to expand skills and accelerate their careers. A detailed course description and suggested course schedule will already be in place and the developer role is focused on building the content of each lesson. 

The starting rate for this position is $86.13 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The curriculum development project requires approximately 50-70 hours of work.

The Course Developer will be responsible for the following…

  • Collaborate with the program manager and other subject matter experts, to create high quality course curriculum that aligns with the intended format of the course. Content includes:
  • Syllabus
  • Detailed course schedule with class activities and lesson plan outlines
  • Assessments (quizzes, knowledge checks, exams, projects)
  • Supporting materials such as reading and external resources
  • Collaborate with the program manager, learning designers, and other content developers, and contribute to the creation of teaching notes to help orient future instructors to the content.
  • Complete all deliverables on time as outlined in the contract and statement of work
  • Respond to and implement feedback from UWC² staff
  • Participate in an initial project kick-off meeting
  • Participate in regular check-in meetings

Course Development work to be completed between February 17th and April 30th. An exact deliverables schedule to be determined by BEC program manager at the time of hire.

UWC2 Extension Lecturers / Course Developers are Academic Staff, not faculty. This is a part-time, temporary position. This union position is represented by the AFT-UWELF Local 6486 Contract: https://hr.uw.edu/labor/unions/aft/contract. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience relevant to course subject matter (Entrepreneurship whether in real-life application or an educational environment).
  • Prior teaching experience, particularly with adult learners.
  • Flexible individual who is open to new and innovative ways of delivering educational experiences.
  • Ability, and desire, to work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Legal authorization to work and receive compensation in the United States.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years teaching experience, particularly with adult learners.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Pedagogy, English, or TESOL
