The University of Toronto Scarborough has been a leader in co-operative education and work integrated learning (WIL), for 50 years. Co-op and WIL give students an opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom, and to expand their knowledge through related work experience. The Department of Arts and Science Co-op is responsible for preparing over 3000 00 undergraduate students from 58 academic areas to compete for paid co-op work term opportunities. The department is also responsible for engaging industry partners who provide these work terms. A coordinated effort among the stakeholders of student, employer, and university co-op programming contribute to the development of well qualified graduates who are prepared to assume a productive role in society. Your opportunity:
Under general supervision of the Assistant Director, the incumbent will be responsible for enhancing quality data, analytical support and reports which support the ongoing operations of the department. With a focus on continuous improvement, the incumbent will assist in the development of models and projections to ensure that various strategic issues and priorities are critically examined and that the planning activities are grounded in sound and reliable evidence.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the incumbent will be responsible for optimizing, maintaining and updating a clean data warehouse for consistent, reliable, accurate and high integrity data reporting (Utilizing Azure Factory ETL software). This incumbent will be responsible for data designing and optimizing data visualization dashboards (in PowerBI), analysis, developing reports data monitoring, report writing and resulting recommendations related to department’s specific business requirements, including but not limited to key conversion metrics such as unique postings, seekers (by type: eligible, active and engaged), applications, interviews and hires. They will be responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining dashboards as required to measure and monitor enrollment, retention and persistence to graduation within Co-op programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for translating business needs and complex data inquiries into easily understood business requirements, responses and reports, and gathering and analyzing the required data to support decision making by the management team. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and documenting current and proposing improved work flow and business processes as needed. This role will support the team with business intelligence through regular and ongoing communication with the Leadership and other members of the team on key performance metrics (such as the work term hiring conversion and retention metrics).
