Who you are:

Motivated by meaningful work, you are looking for a collaborative, team environment with the opportunity to learn and grow as you take the initiative to try new things for January 2025.

As a Data Science Co-op, you will collaborate with our teams to support Semios in building the most integrated platform in Agriculture using the latest technologies in analytics and AIirrigation management and monitoring, managing tree crops by correlating information from many sources and connecting the dots on these data sources. You will get to work with a big data platform while getting experience with SQL, Python, BigQuery, Jupyter, Vertex AI, and data visualization tools.

What you will do:

  • Assist in data collection, cleansing, exploration, and building impactful insights to optimize the many grower operations and processes.
  • Build out ad hoc reporting tools for internal business users.
  • Review and optimize existing machine learning models.
  • Connect and correlate information from different data sources which have their own delivery mechanism: databases, spreadsheets, documents, naming conventions, schemas, and reference points.
  • Design and implement the optimal schemas for delivering insight in a timely, accurate, cost-effective and useful manner.
  • Deliver insight to internal customers as neededImplement business logic within a BI data warehouse, associated with operating a large scale IoT network.

Requirements

We want you to succeed, so you will need:

  • To be currently enrolled and working towards a post secondary degree that focuses on data analytics, data science, computer science, agriculture, or a related field, and registered in a recognized cooperative education program at a post-secondary institution.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
    • Course work or experience programming with SQL.
    • Exposure to R or Python.
    • Basic understanding of the evolving AI ecosystem.
    • Course work or experience with BI visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Passion for learning new technologies.
  • A positive attitude and interest in learning about Agriculture and IoT networks.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with big data and big data infrastructures.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment. 
  • Experience working with data analytics products such as BigQuery.

Salary Range: $18 to $22.00 per hour.

Please note that the pay rate offered may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and experience, as well as business and organizational needs.
