DEAN OF ACADEMICS & CULTUREOUR MISSIONThrough academic rigor, character development, and a structured learning environment, Soleil Academy Charter School ensures that every transitional kindergarten through 5th-grade scholar has the foundation necessary for college success and a future bright with opportunity.THE POSITIONThe Dean of Academics will assist the school in strengthening instructional programs through a strategically planned, standards-based approach with a focus on narrowing achievement gaps. This position will provide leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and planning. The Dean is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, strategic thinking, and providing feedback to teachers.THE RESPONSIBILITIESServe as a lead administrator at one of two sitesSupervise and coach teachers on a regular basis and provide detailed feedback both written and oral, formal and informal.Provide regular supervision and coaching to teachers, offering detailed feedback in both written and verbal formats, through formal and informal methods.Conduct mid-year and end-of-year evaluations to assess performance and support professional growth.Observe Grade teachers and EL Interventionist on a regular basis and provide detailed feedback both written and oral, formal and informalHold regular check-ins with Teachers and Grade Level TeamsResponsible for Grade Level Lead Job Expectations for their grade level(s): Checking lesson plans, facilitating Data Dives, Unit Planning, and attending school-wide Leadership Team MeetingsOversee RTI for assigned grade levelsCoordinate administration and lead data dives for MAP assessmentLead literacy data divesOversee administration and implementation of Lexia program.Lead SST meetings for assigned grade levelsOnboard daily substitutes for staff absencesSupports staff in intensive data analysis and results planningAssists in program implementation and curriculum developmentAssists in determining effective methods for the integration of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and the developmental use of authentic assessmentModels a variety of instructional strategies designed to be rigorous and align with assessments.Assists in identifying, developing, and delivering professional developmentCoaches and models research-based instructional strategies in alignment with Soleil standardsCo-lead/Lead monthly Grade Level Lead MeetingsLead and plan for Community MeetingWeekly/Bi-weekly check-ins with the leadership team to design and implement initiatives critical to student achievementParticipate in attendance meetings with parents when needed.Attend and participate in all school-related family eventsAddress escalated parent concerns regarding scholar behavior and academics.Contribute to the School CommunitySeek opportunities, both individually and through school-based initiatives, to build strong and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, families and scholars.Actively engage in School and externally provided professional development.Prepare for and attend up to five (5) evening or weekend, scholar, parent or other school events that do not exceed more than three (3) hours per event, including Report Card Nights, Open House, Scholar Exhibitions, etc.Serve actively on at least one (1) School- established action committee during the school year.Attend all faculty and professional development meetings.Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with parents.Uphold Soleil Educational Philosophy and Standards of ExcellenceSupport Soleil’s aspiration to prepare all scholars to have the foundation necessary for college success.Maintain accurate, current records for attendance, coursework, and submit timely completed report cards and school-wide assessment records.Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Soleil Employee Handbook.Ensure timely and high-quality submission of department led projectsExhibit a continuous improvement mindset while striving to exemplify Soleil’s commitment to the school community.Adaptability and comfort working in a complex, fast-paced environment that demands continuous learning and improvementOther duties as assigned by school administratorsTHE QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Strong commitment to Soleil Academy’s mission and visionResults-driven educational leader with a commitment to standards-based curriculum and the use of data and assessment to drive instructional decisionsMinimum of three years working in urban education with a history of significant gains in scholar performance and/or growthValid Clear California multiple-subject credentialEnglish Learner AuthorizationExemplary instructional and classroom management skillsHigh level of personal organization and planningProven ability to proactively lead by example, effectively manage adults, and respond positively to feedbackExperience analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instructionOpenness to feedback and desire to continue development as a professionalWillingness to take responsibility for scholar outcomes and achievementExcellent verbal, written, and organizational skillsTB ClearanceHighly preferred:Spanish speakersCOVID-19 vaccination (Up to date)Expertise in line with applicable federal and state requirementsExperience leading a school team for a minimum of 2 yearsSoleil Academy acknowledges and agrees that all persons are entitled to equal employment opportunities. Based on relevant prior work experience, our salary range for this role is $85,000 – $110,905 .
