Position Overview:

Under general supervision, the Dental Hygienist will provide preventive dental care, document treatments, perform radiographs, and educate patients and staff. Individuals in this role will be responsible for ensuring infection control, assessing gum disease, and participating in community health promotion activities.

The Dental Hygienist is expected to know dental regulations and guidelines, including those from dental boards and health organizations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administers preventive dental treatments, including cleanings, scalings, and polishing of teeth, with precision and professionalism.
  • Documents patient treatments and related correspondence in the electronic dental chart.
  • Communicates dental treatment plans and oral hygiene techniques to patients, parents, and clinical staff.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and sterilizes instruments in accordance with established dental policies and procedures.
  • Conducts procedures to identify and document stages of gum disease.
  • Engages in school-based and community events to promote oral health and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene.

Experience:

  • 0 to 1 year experience in a dental clinical setting as a practicing dental hygienist 

Licensure:

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License (TX upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Texas Dental Hygiene License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members.
  • Must use your personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process.

General Information

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Monday through Friday nearmejobs.eu 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.; However, times may vary due to the variability of an event-based schedule
  • Other days and hours as necessary; possible work weekends and evenings.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in both a clinical environment as well as in alternative community-based settings including mobile dental events in different locations throughout Harris County. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners.

Physical Demands:

  • Must possess the physical ability, manual dexterity and eye-sight to practice dental hygiene in a competent manner in a dental clinical setting. Manually set up and tear down equipment as the mobile clinic requires.

  • Mobile Dental Team
  • Primary Reporting Address: 7457 Harwin Drive, Suite 324, Houston, TX 77036
  • This position is part of the Mobile Dental Team, which requires travel to multiple community locations within Harris County, as directed. Applicants must be flexible and willing to work at various locations. 

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
