Summary:

Greet patients and visitors, and answer and route incoming telephone calls promptly and in a professional manner. Schedule dental patients for dental services, update patient registration and complete insurance verification.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Receive and prepare the patient for dental work.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant with patient data entry for the Marden system.
  • Record information related to the medical history of the patient and verbally inform the doctor if the patient has a medical problem or drug allergy.
  • Route patients for medical tests and services.
  • Maintain and sterilize dental equipment.
  • Maintain the logbook for the A test biological test for the autoclave.
  • Assist Dentist at chair side as anticipated or required, in all phases of general dentistry.
  • Instruct patient on post-operative care.
  • Perform dental X-ray process including ability to take a full mouth series.
  • Maintain a variety of recurring reports.
  • Take, pour, trim, and construct dental impressions.
  • Repair missing denture teeth and assist the doctor with repairing broken denture bases.
  • Provide oral hygiene instruction for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Perform oral prophylaxis under the supervision of a dentist.
  • Assist and accompany the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist to the villages and to the schools to provide dental services and for school programs.
  • Perform Fluoride treatment, to include trays, Fluoride varnish, and rinses.
  • Maintain inventory, pack and manage the dental field equipment and supplies.
  • Print orders for dental supplies.
  • Travel to villages as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and training required.
  • Prior Experience working for SSMH Dental strongly preferred.
  • Exceptions to the above requirements may occur if the applicant has tangible recent experience and knowledge from working for SSMH Dental in another capacity.
