Job Description Job Title: Dental Assistant Reports to: Dental Practice Manager Department: Dental FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Grade: 5 Version Date: August 2022 General Responsibilities: The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing hands-on support to the Dentist, completing preparation work to efficiently care for patients and assist during dental procedures. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent X-Ray Certification (or completion within 6 months of hire) BLS Certification (or completion within 6 months of hire) Experience using computers for a variety of tasks. Good written and verbal communication skills. Consistently professional appearance and attitude. Able to provide great patient care. Sign on bonus incentive: This position offers a $2,000 sign on bonus, which will be paid in two parts. The first half paid after successful completion of 6 months of employment, and the second half after successful completion of 12 months of employment. Preferred Qualifications: 1 year experience as a dental assistant. Candidates who do not meet all of the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply. Significant Job Functions: Sterilization of dental instruments Setting up dental procedures Taking alginate impressions Ability to take clear x-ray films Document vitals and chief complaints in chart Document notes in chart Document treatment plan in chart Physical Effort/ Environment: The duties of this position are performed onsite at a Thundermist location. This position requires the use of fingers and hand manipulation using instruments and dental equipment. On feet most of the day. Work Schedule Demands: As determined with department hiring needs. Must be available for overtime, including nights and weekends, when necessary. Communication Skills: This position requires the ability to verbally communicate with patients. It is the responsibility of all employees to comply to state and federal guidelines in accessing sensitive information. Additionally, this role will have access to sensitive agency information.
