Job Description: Performs all phases of direct dental care on patients including extractions, restorations, and prosthetics. Performs patient examinations to assess oral health, ensuring exam details are captured including the condition and position of teeth, fillings, gums, and bone supports. Formulates and discusses treatment plans based on the patient’s financial situation and physical needs. Diagnoses and treats pathological conditions and prescribes medications as needed. Maintains complete and accurate Electronic Dental Record (EDR) documentation. Works on community oral health and clinic projects as assigned by Chief Dental Officer (CDO). Assists in evaluation and ensures quality control techniques utilization as outlined in the Quality Assurance procedures. Teach and mentor dental students and residents. Other administrative duties as assigned. Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements. The position of Dentist at YVFWC is a purely clinical position and does not involve any time spent in a classroom setting. In the course of performing clinical duties, the Dentist allows dental students and dental residents to observe work for educational purposes. The Dentist discusses patient cases and treatment and gives feedback to students and residents on how treatment can be improved. The Dentist oversees and provides guidance to residents in performing general dentistry treatment and procedures in the clinic for educational purposes. Other administrative duties as assigned.
