Job Summary and Description
The Department Chair will support the Alamo Colleges vision for student success and performance excellence by managing and teaching in assigned department(s) at the College. Chairs ensure that the department functions efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with College and District procedures and policies and other accreditation and certification guidelines.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
- Experience in college teaching, instructional administration and program planning and development with a record of increasingly broad responsibilities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Advanced degree in relevant field of study.
- Five years of experience leading academic departments in a higher education institution.
- Seven or more years of experience as a faculty member at a higher education institution.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licenses or certifications may be required depending on programs managed (e.g., Registered Nursing license)
