Background and Context
The Arab Women Organization of Jordan (AWO) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization committed to promoting women’s rights as human rights. Since its establishment in 1970, AWO has played a pivotal role in advocating for gender equality and empowering women and girls in Jordan.
In line with its mission, AWO has initiated the “Women’s Political Empowerment in Jordan (WPE)” project. This project aims to enhance women’s roles in the political sphere through targeted initiatives, including workshops, advocacy campaigns, and resource development. One key output of this project is the development of an inspirational booklet, “Empowering Her Voice,” which will serve as a comprehensive guide for women navigating the evolving political-legal framework of 2024.
Objective of the ToR
The objective of this ToR is to define the roles and responsibilities of the expert tasked with developing the “Empowering Her Voice” booklet. This booklet will:
1. Provide an in-depth understanding of the political-legal framework and its recent amendments. Side by side, provide a thorough analysis of the outcomes and impact of the legal framework on women political participation in the past parliament cycle.
2. Inspire women to actively participate in political processes.
3. Offer practical tips and strategies to enhance women’s political engagement.
4. Include motivational stories of successful women leaders.
Scope of Work
The expert will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Content Development:
– Research and analyze amendments to the political-legal framework relevant to the 2024 elections. As well as an analysis of the outcomes on women political participation in past election sycle. The booklet must be in English and Arabic.
– Develop concise and accessible content, ensuring clarity and inclusion.
– Include case studies and motivational stories from women leaders in Jordan and similar contexts.
2. Design and Structure:
– Propose a user-friendly structure for the booklet, ensuring it is visually appealing and easy to navigate.
– Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure professional formatting and design.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
– Consult with legal experts, women leaders, and civil society representatives to validate the content.
– Incorporate feedback from AWO and other stakeholders into the final version.
4. Training Material Integration:
– Ensure the booklet aligns with training and advocacy efforts under the WPE project.
– Develop materials that can be adapted for future workshops or campaigns.
5. Evaluation and Reporting:
– Collect feedback from initial users of the booklet.
– Submit a comprehensive report on the development process, highlighting lessons learned and recommendations.
Deliverables
1. Draft Version:
– An initial draft of the booklet for review and feedback.
2. Final Booklet:
– A polished and formatted booklet ready for distribution in print and digital formats in Arabic and English.
3. Distribution Strategy:
– Recommendations for effectively disseminating the booklet to target audiences.
4. Comprehensive Report:
– A detailed report summarizing activities, feedback, and recommendations for future updates.
Timeline
– Deadline for receiving the proposals is due to January 10, 2025.
– The final report must be finished due to February 10, 2025.
Qualifications and Experience
The expert should possess the following qualifications:
– Proven experience in developing educational and advocacy materials, particularly for women’s empowerment.
– Strong knowledge of the socio-political context in Jordan.
– Expertise in analyzing and simplifying legal and political frameworks.
– Excellent writing and editing skills in Arabic and English.
– Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
