POSITION SUMMARY
The Digitization Technician is responsible for written/audio/video preparation and digitization while handling various legacy audio/video formats, providing support for in-house digitization/outsourcing digitization, and working closely with the Language & Culture Apprentice and Indigitization.
Key Responsibilities
Digitize media – Video and cassette formats such as VHS, DVD and DV family, audio cassettes to M-files and back up to Language and Culture department hard drive
Gather, process and catalogue technical metadata, managing completed digitized files
Improve long term archival storage conditions for hard-copy materials being held at the Language and Culture Centre
The successful candidate will have a passion for Ktunaxa language revitalization with effective organizational and collaborative skills. They are willing to attend the First Peoples Cultural Language Technology Program Digitization Training or have this skill already. They are computer literate and motivated to see projects through to completion. Holding a High School Diploma and 3-5 years’ experience in an administrative or similar position additional, relevant post-secondary education, would be an asset. Proof of a clear vulnerable sector check, clean driver’s abstract and a Valid Class 5 License are required.
