Habitat for Humanity International is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as the Director for the Office of the Chief Communications Officer, or CCO. The global communications division stewards the Habitat for Humanity brand, which is a key asset in our work to build and sustain the global movement for affordable housing, as a solution to some of the most pressing problems facing both people and the planet.

Reporting directly to Habitat’s CCO, the director will serve as an advisor and partner to the CCO and the Global Communications Leadership Team, playing a pivotal role in supporting the Global Communications division in achieving its strategic and operating goals, as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness. This position is responsible for representing Global Communications on key cross-functional projects, facilitating regular team strategy sessions, and ensuring the smooth, continuously improving execution of the division’s initiatives. The director serves as a key liaison between the CCO and other departments, stakeholders, and partners, providing strategic support and operational oversight.

This position may be based in any of the following countries (candidates must already be eligible to work locally): Costa Rica, Kenya, Slovakia, United Kingdom, United States.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Lead Global Communications Team Engagement and Collaboration (30%)
*Facilitate key meetings and strategy sessions (weekly/monthly/quarterly management, team and leadership meetings, on-sites, and workshops), including agenda setting, content coordination, action item capture and assignments with deadlines; follow-up to ensure progress against next steps and deliverables.
*Support development, execution, and ongoing monitoring of the division’s Employee Engagement Survey action plans in coordination with the Global Communications Leadership Team and the HR Business Partner.
*Partner with CCO and Global Communications Leadership Team to facilitate effective information sharing and decision-making across workstreams and departments to drive outcomes.

Coordinate Global Communications Integrated Strategic Planning (25%)
*Manage multi-year and annual integrated operating planning, goal and KPI setting, and dashboard progress tracking, measuring milestones.
*Coordinate with HFHI Office of Strategy Management and other divisional business partners regarding strategy, operational planning, and change management within Global Communications, and with other organizational areas of Habitat.
*Facilitate alignment and integration of Global Communications operational strategies and goals with overall HFHI strategy and priorities.

Drive Divisional Operational Excellence (20%)
*Streamline internal processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the Global Communications division, monitoring departmental workflows and identifying opportunities for improvement.
*Support CCO and Global Communications Leadership Team to diagnose complex organizational issues and challenges, manage related processes as needed, and leverage resources.

Lead CCO Office Effectiveness (25%)
*Facilitate effective and dynamic decision-making in matters within the CCO’s purview; assist in identifying priorities, setting objectives, and tracking progress on key initiatives.
*Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for the CCO/Global Communications to deliver to other senior leaders.
*Provide continuity and follow-through by attending meetings of relevance to the CCO, noting action items, and acting on their behalf for follow-through with other executives and staff.
*In partnership with the Executive Administrator and key partners, provide strategic oversight to most effectively leverage CCO’s time, including prioritization of travel and calendar.
*Coordinate content development and preparation of CCO agendas, presentations and communications in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Requirements:

*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
*10+ years of business management, consulting, data analysis and budget management, change management, coaching, project management, facilitation, conflict management or related experience, with at least 2 years in a senior facilitation or strategy role.
*Willing and able to travel internationally up to 20%.
*Demonstrated effectiveness in chief of staff or similar role with senior level executives.
*Ability to develop and manage budgets.
*Demonstrated ability and courage to challenge ideas of senior leaders and offer alternative solutions.
*Ability to overcome barriers and obstacles and align others to reach agreement and sound solutions.
*Ability to interface with, influence and provide excellent service to all levels of an organization (board, senior leaders, middle management, federated global network).
*Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment within the Global Communications division and the broader organization.
*Ability to apply emotional intelligence to communicate effectively, empathize, and identify solutions; willingness to engage in crucial conversations to create mutual purpose.
*Ability to know when help is needed, and to ask for it.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.

For work locations in Slovakia, the monthly gross pay starts at EUR 7,180.
For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is USD $116,000 to $136,500 per year.
