Division Chief of Plastic Surgery

University Hospitals Health System is seeking a high achieving academic surgeon to serve as the Division Chief for the Division of Plastic Surgery who is enthusiastic about rebuilding and leading an upper echelon plastic surgery program. The incoming leader will grow and expand a Division that excels in both clinical and academic domains, working within a collaborative, teamwork environment. Successful applicants will be eligible for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor academic rank at Case Western Reserve University and have the skill set required to serve as a strong academic leader and mentor. An endowed Chair in the Plastic Surgery Division will be available to the successful candidate. Candidates should exhibit a passion for leadership, patient care, mentorship, and research excellence.

The incoming Plastic Surgery Division Chief will lead the advancement of the mission at University Hospitals, ‘To Heal, To Teach, To Discover’ by providing high quality, value-based patient care, enhancing the educational programs, and developing clinical and translational research programs. Supported by Departmental and hospital leadership’s commitment and support and through maintaining exemplary relationships the incoming leader will participate in the development and expansion of a full service, aesthetic and reconstructive service and a robust clinical and academic program. The new Division Director will participate in strategic leadership and collaboration in Plastic Surgery services, including all subspecialties: breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, hand surgery, trunk, and lower extremity trauma reconstruction, lymphatic surgery, body contouring surgery, cosmetic surgery, and general plastic surgery as well as coordinating and collaborating with surgical faculty in other Divisions.

Responsibilities will include the overall vision, direction, operation and management of the Division. Serving as the role model of expert, compassionate and cost-effective clinical care, and outstanding scholarship and professional education, the Division leader will inspire faculty to optimize their status as academic physicians and professionals. The incoming Division Chief and Endowed Chair will recruit and retain academic faculty; placing a priority on diversity, equity, and inclusion; engage in teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, other health sciences trainees, and faculty in the area of Plastic Surgery; oversee and encourage scholarship and research within the Division and establish strong collaborations across the Department and School of Medicine.

The current profile of the Plastic Surgery Division at University Hospitals includes six academic fellowship-trained specialists in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
