The College of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is looking for a fellowship-trained Division Chief of Hand Surgery. This position will support the university’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and activities.

Essential Functions

The candidate will demonstrate advanced medical knowledge and the ability to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment for routine and complex hand-related conditions. Candidate must demonstrate clinical and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and compliant and timely documentation. The candidate will also lead the department’s hand fellowship program and the clinical, education, and research missions of the department’s Hand Division.

Merritt Hawkins is conducting the national search for exceptional candidates. Requirements for this position are:

  • M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
  • Board certification in orthopaedic surgery
  • Rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Completion of an accredited hand/upper extremity fellowship
  • Proven background in clinical excellence, academic achievement, experience teaching at the resident and fellowship levels, and demonstrated leadership
