About the Solomon Islands Australia Partnership for Health
The Solomon Islands-Australia Partnership for Health is a four-year initiative from January 2025 to December 2028. This program succeeds the Health Sector Support Program Phase 3 (HSSP3), which operated from 2016 to 2024. The new partnership focuses on enhancing provincial health service delivery and strengthening the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ capacity to implement the National Health Strategic Plan 2022–2031. Australia has committed AU$ 28 million to this four-year health program, emphasizing provincial service delivery.
Key Objectives:
1. Enhanced Provincial Service Delivery:

o Complement grants with technical support, facility upgrades, and targeted procurement of critical medical equipment.
2. Strengthened MHMS Capacity:
o Support MHMS in policy development, leadership, and management to achieve NHSP goals.
o Facilitate performance-linked funding to encourage provincial health improvements.
3. Cross-Cutting Priorities:
o Embed gender equality, disability inclusion, climate responsiveness, and local-led development in all programs.
o Support initiatives like the PS Women in Health Leadership Awards for capacity building.
4. Improved Coordination and Impact:
o Align Australia’s health investments for maximum impact through consolidated work planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
o Ensure visible contributions to the health sector and demonstrate shared success with the Solomon Islands ‘Government (SIG).
Expected Outcomes:
· EOPO1: Provincial health departments and select health facilities deliver increased, higher-quality, and more equitable health service packages.
· EOPO2: MHMS policy, leadership, and management capacity are strengthened to support improved health service delivery.
