Provide students with appropriate learning activities and culturally relevant experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. The dual language two-way bilingual program teacher is responsible for implementing the District’s instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated in accordance with District goals, policies, and procedures.

  1. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of Conroe ISD’s Dual Language Two- Way Bilingual Program curriculum goals.
  2. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and Dual Language Two-Way Bilingual Program in both English and/or Spanish. Demonstrate written evidence of preparation as required.
  3. Assist in the development of curriculum for the Conroe ISD’s Dual Language Two-Way Bilingual Program.
  4. Prepare lessons that effectively differentiate both content and language learning through the use of accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  5. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  6. Structure activities in the classroom to facilitate oral language production and comprehension in the target language and/or English.
  7. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned in both English and/or Spanish.
  8. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities in both English and/or Spanish.
  9. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  10. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  11. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  12. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  13. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  14. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing in both English and/or Spanish.
  15. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  16. Be a positive role model for students, and support mission of school district.
  17. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  18. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  19. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  20. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  21. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  22. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  23. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  24. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  25. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers and the Dual Language Two-Way Bilingual Program Model.
  26. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  27. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, and serve on staff committees as required.
  28. Complete the CISD Reading Academy according to established timelines at the time of hire.
  29. Regular attendance.
  30. Other duties assigned.

ASSIGNMENTS TO VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION:

  1. Seamlessly integrate District-approved online learning platforms and required software into the planning, delivery, and support of virtual instruction.
  2. Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  3. Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  4. Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines including professional communication and responsiveness.
  5. Be flexible, responsive, and positive with students, parents, and staff.
  6. Effectively translate CISD Best Practices into the virtual instructional setting.
  7. Regularly attend and apply District-approved professional development in the most up-to-date practices associated with virtual instruction.
  8. Accurately and timely obtain and report required student data, including attendance, grades, etc.
  9. Dress professionally as you would if you were offering instruction to students in a traditional, in-person setting.
  10. Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.
  11. Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  12. Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.
  13. Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.
  14. Attend all required campus and District meetings.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in Bilingual education in grade level assigned or ESL endorsement
  • Valid ESL certification
  • Valid Reading Academy Certificate of Completion, if applicable

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
