The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) invites applications for two or three academic scholars in mixed animal veterinary clinical education as one of six Distributed Veterinary Learning Community (DVLC) academic liaisons. The successful candidate(s) will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching) or Associate Professor (Teaching) for a full-time, 3-year contingent term position. The start date will be July 1, 2025 or at a mutually agreeable date.

Position Description and Associated Responsibilities
UCVM uses a DVLC comprised of partner veterinary practices and veterinary-related enterprises to deliver the majority of its clinical fourth-year DVM program. These positions will have 50% of their time dedicated to supporting our DVLC veterinary educator partners, and successful applicants will be expected to develop and deliver professional development programs in teaching, learning, and assessment. The positions will work with the Associate Deans Curriculum for the academic liaison role. The successful candidates will also work closely with the Associate Dean Clinical Affairs and other core clinical faculty members to provide appropriate educational support to our DVLC, ensuring that we meet our mission and program competencies. UCVM will be expanding its intake from 55 to 100 students per year in the fall of 2025, and the successful candidates will assist with the curricular revisions needed to accommodate this increased class size while maintaining and enhancing the DVLC as a high-quality experiential learning environment.

These positions will have 90% of their time focused on teaching and 10% dedicated to service. Teaching will largely be comprised of developing and coaching DVLC instructors in teaching, learning, and assessment in the DVLC. There will also be considerable work to ensure the quality control of student learning experiences with the increased class size. Additional contributions to didactic, field, and 4th year rotational course teaching, as well as course coordination, could be required.
