Primary Purpose:

To support campuses in the implementation of the district’s dyslexia program. This includes but is not limited to screening, assessing, identifying, and serving students as well as providing training and support to campus staff. 

Education / Certification:

  1. A valid Texas teacher certification
  2. Bilingual certification is helpful

Special Knowledge/Skills

  1. Knowledge of common signs and effects of dyslexia
  2. Knowledge of District dyslexia program
  3. Ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, students, parents, and community
  4. Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. ExperienceThree years teaching experience
  6. Experience delivering intervention strategies for dyslexic students preferred
  7. Experience in administration and analysis of district reading assessments

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provide instructional services for students identified with dyslexia using District approved program
  2. Provide ongoing documentation on student progress
  3. Provide dyslexia training for teachers
  4. Provide support for the ESL instructional clerk
  5. Chair LPACs
  6. Support campus staff in determining accommodations for classroom instruction and assessments
  7. Assist campus teachers and administrators with questions arising about next steps for students identified with dyslexia

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands:

District wide travel; prolonged and irregular hours.
