Compensation Range:
Position Summary:
EAP faculty are expected to teach all courses in the six level skills-based curriculum, to equal at least 150 load points (e.g., five 3 credit-hour classes) per semester. Faculty are also expected to serve on college committees, to engage in on-going professional development and collaborative curriculum development, and to maintain office hours on campus and online. Love of teaching is primary.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in one of the following fields: 1. Applied Linguistics, 2. Language Acquisition, 3. TESOL, 4. ESL
OR
Master’s degree in one of the following fields: 1. Linguistics, 2. Foreign Languages, 3. English, 4. 18 graduate semester hours focusing on a second language instruction/acquisition, 5. Teaching experience in college-level ESL
Preferred Qualifications:
Community college teaching experience, experience with online teaching and online curriculum development and experience working with a diverse population.
Supplemental Job Information:
A faculty screening committee will analyze the strength of your application materials. Applicants with a qualifying degree from an educational institution outside the United States and Canada must submit a foreign credential evaluation from one of the members of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services (website: www.naces.org). To complete your application, you must attach a copy of your graduate academic transcripts from an accredited institution of higher education, showing attainment of at least the minimum qualifications. You should include a complete online application, CV, cover letter, unofficial transcripts, and professional references. The faculty screening committee will select the top candidates for an interview that includes comprehensive questions and may require a teaching demonstration.
Pay Rate:
Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union
Up to four salary steps may be applied to the starting salary based on experience.
