The East Anglian Storytelling Festival are offering a short-term, limited hours position for a logistics manager to make the wheels of our 2025 Festival turn smoothly and make sure our Festival is the very best it can be. We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers. We have grown the festival from a small gathering of storytellers to an event that story enthusiasts across the country like to come to. We have successfully secured ACE and local authority funding for some years past, including 2025. We work closely with our valued partners at https://foodmuseum.org.uk/ – the Food Museum, in Stowmarket, Suffolk, who host our festival in their beautiful grounds.
To grow our festival further we need dedicated input to our logistics and site management.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, well organised and level-headed Festival Manager to coordinate the team during the Festival 2025. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the role includes working with a small team of volunteer managers, ensuring the smooth running of events, acting as the main point of contact between festivalgoers, artists, and our host venue. Having an overview of all elements of the festival, you will be a key part of festival cohesion.
Hours and renumeration
Our ACE grant provides for 12 days work at £200 per day, approx. 96 hours @£25 per hour as follows:
- Festival run up – 7thApril – 25th May, 1 day a week for 7 weeks – admin and logistics
- Week of the festival – 28th and 29th May – 1 day or two half days set up.
- Festival Weekend – 30th May-2nd June – 4 days complete set up, manage site during festival, assist clear up and report back afterwards
Some hours can be flexible, but you must be available from 28th May – 2 June
Job Requirements
Role requirements
The logistics manager will liaise closely with the Artistic Director, the Food Museum team, and volunteers, to set up and oversee the efficient running of systems and information in advance of the festival, mastermind the festival setup in the week before the festival, oversee the smooth running of the festival, manage getout and clearing up afterwards and report back to the committee afterwards.
We are looking for a person who is:
proficient in IT skills – Word, Excel, able to manipulate a spreadsheet, prepare documentation.
calm under pressure.
experienced in event management/front-facing work with difficult customers
able to step back and assess situations.
has good communication/people management skills
multi-tasking & able to think on feet
