The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading orchestras seeks a highly motivated Education Officer.

Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to plan and manage a variety of music outreach programmes that inspire and empower individuals of diverse age ranges, abilities, socio-economic statuses and musical backgrounds.

We are looking for a highly organised, conscientious, and friendly person, who is willing to work both on their own initiative and as part of a small team. This is a dynamic role in a fast-developing organisation. The chosen candidate will report to the Chief Operating Officer and Directors.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in our London Office. The holiday entitlement is 20 days plus Bank Holidays. Travel to Oxford for concerts and workshops will be required and evening and weekend work will be necessary. An in-lieu scheme is in place to cover out-of-hours working.

Job Requirements

Essential abilities/qualifications:

  • An interest in and knowledge of classical music and a desire to bring the fun and stimulation of live music to the wider community
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Meticulous accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the arts
  • Applicant must have the right to work in the UK

Preferred abilities/qualifications:

  • Experience supporting young people in creating media content to share their experience of taking part in activities
  • Experience working with children
  • Prior knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
  • Experience with Inclusive and Accessible Programming
  • Experience of monitoring and managing budgets
  • Knowledge of Oxford and Oxfordshire
  • A degree in music
