The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ece.osu.edu) at The Ohio State University invite applications for a Associate Professor or Professor appointment as Director of the ElectroScience Laboratory (electroscience.osu.edu).
Position Overview:
The Director of the ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) is a tenured position (Associate Professor or Professor level). The ESL Director leads the largest fundamental center on electromagnetic systems in the country; serves as the chief executive and technical officer for the laboratory, working closely with key leadership within the College of Engineering (CoE) Engineering Research Administration (ERA), other CoE centers and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE); provides leadership and strategic direction for ESL and leads the laboratory in the formulation and growth of large research programs; provides leadership in vision setting and strategic planning, enhances the public profile of the laboratory and external relations with government, industry and alumni, and stimulates and mentors faculty, senior researchers, staff and students; is responsible for ESL’s strategic plan, financial and operational leadership, and sets a culture of excellence, diversity, and inclusion throughout the laboratory; provides technical leadership and collaboration in industry or government laboratory R&D projects; helps secure major research funding from competitive federal and/or industry grants. The ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) is the premier center focused on all aspects of electromagnetics and radio frequency (RF) systems. Established in 1942, it is one of the oldest and largest electromagnetics laboratories in the United States. ESL has consistently maintained a national and international preeminence in electromagnetics and RF systems. ESL faculty, research scientists and students are involved in all aspects of electromagnetic and RF technologies. ESL is a distinctive university center where world-class faculty and research scientists lead projects that provide state-of-the-art exploration and superior training for graduate and undergraduate students. ESL is a multidisciplinary research facility that collaborates with other laboratories across campus and industry partners worldwide.
