Function / Position Summary
This position will work collaboratively with the general education teacher to plan for, provide and assess the instruction of preschool-age students with IEPs within the blended preschool classroom. This position will work collaboratively with the general education teacher to provide supports to students without IEPs; work collaboratively with staff to support student growth and development within the blended preschool classroom.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Display a thorough knowledge of early childhood development, preschool curriculum, data collection and authentic assessment practices for early learners.
Provide direct services and instruction within assigned preschool classrooms as mandated by student’s IEP.
Serve as Case Manager of assigned caseload; updating and completing required IEP paperwork and other Case Manager duties.
Attend Service Team and IEP meetings; attend problem-solving team meetings when necessary.
Facilitate IEP meetings as directed and when necessary (ie: annual reviews).
Support classroom teachers through the building MTSS process by co-developing plans for implementation of universal strategies and data collection procedures.
Lead developmental growth groups for children identified through the building MTSS process.
Provide support for specific students with individual needs to access the early learners curriculum through the building MTSS process.
Provide accommodations and modifications for identified students.
Participate in required district or state professional development activities
Travel may be required to buildings that service U-46 early learners.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from an accredited university.
Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Early Childhood endorsement and Early Childhood Special Education approval OR Professional Educator License (PEL) with a K-12 LBS1 endorsement & Early Childhood Special Education approval REQUIRED.
Provisional Licensure (ELS-PEDU) with previously listed endorsement(s) and approval also accepted.
Knowledge of the Illinois Early Learning & Development Standards (IELDS).
Knowledge of Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for ELL (English Language Development Standards).
Understanding of second language acquisition.
Knowledge of strategies to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations.
Physical DemandsOccasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Frequency outdoors on the playground or occasional walking field trips.
Terms of Employment
Nine month position (184 work days)
Performance of the position will be evaluated with provisions set by the Board of Education as per ETA contract.
