Title: ESL/ELL Orientation and Data Assessment Specialist

Salary Range: $21/hour (Bachelors) $23/hour (Masters)

Standard Hours: 24 hrs per week, including 1-2 evenings

Work Location: On-Site

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

College: Gateway Community & Technical College, Boone campus

Job Summary

The English as Second Language(ESL)/English Language Learner(ELL) Orientation and Data Assessment Specialist will play a crucial role in welcoming and orienting new ESL students. This position involves assisting with orientation sessions, providing essential information about the program, and offering ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition for students. They will also be responsible for data entry and carrying out general office tasks.

This is an in-person posiiong and will be required to work on-campus to fulfill these duties.

Job Duties:

  • Promote monthly ESL orientation sessions across various campus locations.
  • Prepare orientation materials provided by program staff.
  • Support orientation testing, including TABE or CASAS assessments.
  • Assist with data entry for student records.
  • Handle phone inquiries and maintain the webpage.
  • Perform general office tasks.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, or a related field.
  • 2 years of relelvant experience 
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in ESL teaching, student support services, or data management.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Bi-lingual (French or Spanish)
