Adjunct faculty must work two (2) consecutive quarters at 50% or more of full time academic load in order to qualify for benefits (based on instructional hours only). Once determined to be eligible, benefits begin on the first day of the month following the beginning of the quarter. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered by the Public Employees Benefits Board. Participation in one of the retirement plans is mandatory. The two plans are the State Board Retirement Plan administered through TIAA-CREF and TRS Plan 3 through the Department of Retirement Systems. Adjuncts who teach at other Washington State Community & Technical colleges and are actively contributing to retirement there may contribute to retirement at LCC.
Paid Leave
Adjunct faculty employed on adjunct and/or quarterly contracts shall earn sick leave based on their contracted FTE multiplied by seven (7) for each month they are in active teaching status.
Adjunct academic employees shall have four (4) days of personal leave available from July 1 through June 30. No more than (2) days may be used per quarter. Adjunct faculty also receive paid jury duty leave.

Tuition Waiver
For interested adjunct employees that are eligible for benefits (teaching more than 50% of full-time as indicated above), LCC offers $10 classes. State employees also qualify for tuition discounts with other various colleges and universities across the state (RCW 28B.15.558).
Red Devil Wellbeing
Red Devil Wellbeing is LCC’s employee wellness program that strives to help employees improve and maintain their wellbeing enabling them to live healthier and more fulfilling lives.
On-site Childcare Center
The Early Learning Center is a state licensed program that offers high quality childcare for children ages 1 month through kindergarten entry to students, staff and faculty. The center is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is a participant of the Washington State Early Achievers quality rating and improvement system and rated a level 4-Quality Level of Excellence. Our teachers are trained in the Early Childhood Education field.
Social Security
All state employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The state and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.
