EPSRC CDT Advanced Engineering in Personalised Surgery & Intervention

We are now accepting applications for 1st October 2024 entry from home and overseas students that wish to carry out PhD research training at King’s College London. Our newly established Centre for Doctoral Training on Advanced Engineering on Personalised Surgery & Intervention (AE-PSI) offers PhD projects on:

  • Smart Surgical Instruments and Active Implants, including surgical robotics, advanced imaging systems, and human/machine implantable interfaces.
  • Surgical Data Science, including creation of clinical decision support systems and interventional imaging analysis.
  • Digital Surgical Twins, including patient specific models that allow for in silico training and outcome prediction.

Our CDT scholarships cater for students requiring further technical skills development through an MRes, and for students that can directly embark on PhD research.

Award value

The studentship is fully funded for 4 years. This includes tuition fees, stipend and generous project consumables.

Stipend: Students will receive a tax-free stipend at the UKRI rate of £21,237 (AY 2024/25) per year as a living allowance.

Research Training Support Grant (RTSG): A generous project allowance will be provided for research consumables and for attending UK and international conferences.
