POSITION DETAILS: This position works during the school year, 5 days per week at 6.75 hours per day. The position follows the EVSC School Board of Trustees approved calendar. The position will be assigned to a school but may transfer based on student need. SALARY: Year Hourly Rate 1 $14.79 2 $15.40 3 $16.02 4 $16.64 5 $17.25 6 $17.88 7 $18.50 8 $19.11 9 $19.73 10 $20.34 11 $20.97 12 $21.48
The hourly rate for a current EVSC assistant will be based on years of service with EVSC in an assistant role.
Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role if an employee has worked 120 days in a school year.
New employees will begin on year 1. BENEFITS: EVSC offers four (4) Anthem medical insurance plans. Single medical, dental and vision insurance are provided with this position.

If elected, insurance coverage begins the first of the month following the successful completion of a 30-day probationary period.

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees’ children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate.
This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a
defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan.
Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.
Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans.

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED required. All new employees are required to complete required online professional development within 60 days of employment. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is based upon student enrollment in this school building. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year.
The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve EVSC students.
SUMMARY:
Under the direction and guidance of the Multilingual (MLL) Teacher, the ESL Instructional Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting multilingual learners as they acquire English proficiency and succeed academically. The assistant works collaboratively with educators and staff to ensure that MLL students receive equitable access to grade-level content while fostering their linguistic and cultural strengths.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist Multilingual Learner teachers by identifying and implementing strategies to address the academic and linguistic needs of MLL students.
- Deliver individualized or small-group instruction using provided lessons/materials to support MLL students in mastering academic content, with a focus on English language development.
- Monitor and document student progress, sharing updates with the MLL Teacher to inform instructional planning.
- Serve as a key liaison between the MLL teacher and general education staff, promoting the integration of effective strategies to support MLL learners.
- Build relationships with students and families to create a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive school environment.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions to stay current on best practices for supporting MLL students, including strategies for English Language Development and Second Language Acquisition.
- Apply training and new learning to daily instructional practices, ensuring students receive evidence-based and differentiated support.
- Utilize a variety of provided instructional resources and tools designed to enhance English language proficiency, including visual aids, technology, and culturally relevant materials.
- Support the implementation of school or district programs for multilingual learners, such as interventions, tutoring, or enrichment activities.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the MLL Teacher, including preparing materials, managing schedules, and coordinating communication with stakeholders.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative and supportive school culture by participating in school events, initiatives, and team meetings.
- Escort and supervise students as they move to and from various rooms.
- Supervise students within the building, on the playground, and on field trips.
- Present a pleasant, caring, non-threatening attitude toward children.
- Maintain regular attendance.

- Bilingual preferred.
