ESL Instructor – Meadowlands Campus, Evenings

The Continuing Education Department at Bergen Community College invites applications for an evening part-time instructor position for our Department of Labor grant. A qualified ESL instructor will provide English language lessons to students with low level literacy skills in the English language.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Conduct activities and lessons based on ESL teaching methodologies 
• Plan lessons and activities, adopt a creative approach, and encourage and motivate students to learn 
• Maintain daily attendance 
• Monitor students’ performance to make suggestions for improvement and ensure they satisfy course standards 
• Assist with testing in order to evaluate students’ progress and achievement 
• Motivate students to participate in all aspects of the educational process actively 
• Assist with course/program evaluation

Locations: 

• Lyndhurst Campus 

Available Time Slots: 

• Three weekday evenings 6-9 PM Mon/Wed/Thurs.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

• Masters Degree preferred

Experience: 

• Excellent command of the English language 
• Ability to teach students of all ages and from different backgrounds 
• Display patience and cultural awareness
