Position Title: ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) INSTRUCTOR Summer English Language Program

Department: ESL SERVICES

Salary: $33.51 per hour (as outlined in the CUPE 4207, Unit 3 Collective Agreement)

Employment: PART-TIME (June 26– August 14, 2024)

Start Date: 26 June 2024

Duties: 

Instructors teaching the Summer Program teach three hours per day for the length of the program. Instructors are responsible for the preparation of weekly lesson plans, tests, quizzes and assignments for their courses. They are also responsible for the marking and evaluation of in-class work and record keeping. Other duties are described in the Non-Credit Part-time Instructor’s Job Description.

Qualifications: 

In most circumstances the minimum qualifications for a new non-credit appointment shall be the Bachelor degree and TESL Certificate with a supervised practicum; Master’s level qualifications in related areas – e.g. Applied Linguistics, English, Languages – shall also be taken into account; post-secondary teaching experience, especially in ESL/EFL, and particularly overseas, is very desirable.
