The EVSC is seeking several qualified individuals to work with Multilingual Learners in non-public schools in Vanderburgh County. Tutor schedules are flexible within school hours (8am-3pm) and days (Monday through Friday).
This is an ideal position for a retiree or college student. Tutors can work as little (2-3 hours a week) or as much 20 hours a week depending on their desire and availability.
Tutors arrange their schedules with individual schools to identify times that work best for Multilingual Learner students and the tutor. The tutor is given guidance on activities for students, including instructional materials and supplies to utilize while working with students (either 1 on 1, or in small group, pull-out settings).
Tutors do not need to be bilingual.
Goal: To provide supplemental support towards the academic success of Multilingual Learners in non-public schools.
- Hours: Flexible, Monday – Friday during the school day, right now seeking a candidate who can go to non public schools within Vanderburgh County for 2-3 hours each week to meet with English Learners
- 40 weeks per year – student attendance days
- Location – Various Non-Public Schools in Vanderburgh County
- $16.00 Per Hour for non-certified, $25 for certified
- Effective for the 23-24 School Year
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred not required
- Experience working with English Learners
Duties
- Under the direction of the ESL Director, provide one-on-one and small group assistance, as needed to Multilingual Learners in the school setting
- Provide tutoring assistance as needed to higher level English Learners who require support in their core classes
- Work with students in the language domains of reading, writing, speaking and listening
- Submit time, weekly, in accordance with internal office procedures
