ESL-Workforce Adjunct

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Responsible for teaching English as a second language to our students. In this position, there is an opportunity to help develop instructional materials and assess students’ progress. You will also be expected to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment to help students improve their English language skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ivy+ Career Link instructors for this position should be prepared to create and deliver content. A variety of topics or areas will be offered so the audience can draw from personal and professional enrichment. Instructors are expected to provide quality teaching materials including documentation to substantiate teaching.

Ivy Tech Kokomo is looking for skills training course instructors with proficiency in a subject area as demonstrated by a completed higher education program, certifications, and/or equivalent professional or volunteer experience reflected in a professional resume.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaching English as a second language to students of various ages and proficiency levels.
• Instructing from educational materials that meet the needs of individual students and groups.
• Assessing students’ language abilities and tailoring instruction to meet their needs.
• Providing feedback to students on their progress and offering suggestions for improvement.
• Creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student participation and motivation.
• Using technology and other resources to enhance instruction and student learning.
• Keeping accurate records of student grades and progress.
• Staying up to date with current trends and developments in ESL teaching and incorporating them into instruction.
• This position requires morning and/or evening hours of instruction.
• This is not an exhaustive list of duties.

Education & Experience:

• 1 year of ESL classroom teaching experience
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
