Department Description:

The Department of Learning and Teaching’s strong commitment to diversity is reflected in our full-time faculty, and the PhD and Master’s program enrollment. Currently, 69% of our full-time faculty are faculty of color; 78% of students in the PhD program are students of color, 69% are women, and many are the first in their families to pursue higher education; and over 40% of students in the Master’s program are students of color. The Department includes a fully online PhD program in Education for Social Justice, both credential and master’s degree programs in elementary education, secondary education, special education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and a fully online Master’s of education program for experienced K-12 teachers. The Department of Learning and Teaching and USD have a strong commitment to diversity and to global education. Detailed Description:

The Department of Learning and Teaching is seeking college instructors or credentialled public school personnel with a minimum of 5 years K-12 classroom experience capable of teaching Assessment of K-12 students.

• Provide instruction on (a) comprehensive assessment of learners and collaborative multidisciplinary decision-making; (b) using multiple sources to inform data-informed identification, placement, planning, monitoring, and transitioning of students academically, socially and/or behaviorally; (c) administration of assessments in designing support systems at home, school, and within community settings.

Assignments to this course are considered lecturer and non-benefit-based. Each course consists of 3 units of teaching credit and the maximum allowable for each non-benefits-based instructor is 6 units. Episodic need during Fall (Sept – Dec) or Spring semesters (end Jan – May).

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
