Teaching and Research Positions

(1) Qualifications

  1. Chinese citizenship is required.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate good political integrity, moral character, compliance with laws and regulations, and good health.
  3. Candidates should possess the necessary academic qualifications, theoretical knowledge, and research capabilities for the position.
  4. A doctoral degree or an associate senior professional title is required, with an age limit of under 45 for doctoral degree holders or associate senior professionals, and under 50 for full senior professionals.
  5. Professional areas of interest may include mathematics, physics, geophysics, optical engineering, electronic science and technology, chemistry, materials science, biology, bioengineering, pharmacy, basic medicine, environmental science and engineering, computer science and technology, intelligent science and technology, among others.

Postdoctoral Positions

(1) Qualifications

  1. Age limit of 35 years;
  2. Hold a doctoral degree with no more than 3 years since graduation;
  3. Graduates with doctoral degrees from prestigious domestic or international universities, with a strong research background, problem-solving skills, and a passion for scientific research;
  4. Acceptable fields of expertise include mathematics, physics, geophysics, optical engineering, electronic science and technology, chemistry, materials science, biology, bioengineering, pharmacy, basic medicine, environmental science and engineering, computer science and technology, artificial intelligence, and more.

(2) Salary and Benefits

  1. Annual salary not less than CNY 300,000 (including Hangzhou living allowance) for a two-year term as an inbound postdoc, with an additional 50,000 yuan living allowance for postdoctoral fellows from abroad;
  2. Research funding of 50,000 yuan;
  3. Newly graduated doctoral students can receive an additional CNY 100,000 from Hangzhou new graduate subsidy;
  4. For those who have been funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and provincial-level postdoctoral research projects, the municipal finance provides a 1:1 matching fund;
  5. Provide fully furnished one-bedroom loft apartments, with canteens, cultural and sports centers, and other living facilities; after meeting relevant policies for renting housing in Hangzhou, the applicants can apply for a Hangzhou rental subsidy of CNY 2,500 per month;
  6. Outbound postdoctoral who stay and work in Hangzhou can apply for a 400,000 yuan Hangzhou postdoctoral stay (arrival) subsidy;
  7. Those with outstanding performance during the postdoctoral stage and who choose to work in Hangzhou can additionally apply for a special subsidy of CNY 400,000for staying (arriving) at the Hangzhou City West Science and Innovation Corridor;
  8. Outbound Postdoctoral fellows who authorize invention patents can apply for Hangzhou Class D talent recognition. If they had no housing in Hangzhou and had not enjoyed other housing policies, they could apply for a housing subsidy of CNY 1 million.

Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences

Established in 2019, the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences was founded with the approval of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. It is jointly built by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and the Hangzhou Municipal Government. HIAS operates directly under UCAS as its secondary college, is a public institution directly under Hangzhou Municipality, and is recognized as one of Zhejiang Province’s first provincial-level new research and development institutions.

As a branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences system by the West Lake, HIAS adheres to the UCAS motto of “Erudition, Determination, Investigation, and Virtue.” It inherits and carries forward the traditional strength of CAS in “integrating scientific research with education.” Grounded in its founding principles of “High Starting Point, Small but Fine, and Innovation-Oriented,” HIAS implements a “Core with Dual Wings” development strategy. This strategy focuses on talent cultivation as the core, supported by scientific research and innovation & entrepreneurship. Centered on four cutting-edge fields—Physics and Optoelectronics, Life and Health, Intelligent Science and Technology, and Ecological Environment—HIAS has established 8 interdisciplinary secondary schools. These are supported by 16 CAS research institutes and comprise 75 Professor Studios and 25 research platforms. HIAS hosts 4 provincial/ministerial key laboratories:

The HIAS Postdoctoral Workstation has been approved as a National-Level Postdoctoral Research Workstation and has gained the independent qualification to recruit postdoctoral researchers.
