Posting Summary
Rutgers University School of Social Work is currently seeking a non-tenure track (NTT), teaching or professional practice faculty member to serve as a member of the faculty for the undergraduate Program. This rigorous and well-established program offers the curriculum for a two-year full-time option for the completion of a baccalaureate degree with a social work major that requires 120 credits.
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education, the faculty member will support a “student-centered, strengths-based, solution-focused” approach fostering student academic success, retention, and well-being throughout all phases of the BASW program and engages in related duties as necessary, which includes:
- Maintaining a community and belonging among undergraduate students.
- Enhancing the School’s commitment to anti-racism and inclusion, intersectionality, diversity, equity, and advancement (IIDEA) initiatives.
- Interacting closely with members of the SSW community, especially the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education and BASW Directors.
- Remaining in close communication with the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education to promote a transformative learning experience.
- Supporting and liaising with faculty and lecturers to advance effective teaching and learning, scholarship and dissemination, and service to the school and community.
- Collaborating with the faculty and School’s leadership team to support curriculum development and new program initiatives.
This position is a calendar-year, New Brunswick-NJ-based position subject to contractual renewals. Successful candidates will teach nine (9) courses per academic year during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters/sessions, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in school and university service.
Some service initiatives may require evening and weekend work to accommodate our student population. All Teaching and Professional Practice NTT faculty members are expected to engage in teaching, scholarly/professional dissemination, and service activities in accordance with their rank, and other duties as assigned. Salary and rank of appointment is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work with a minimum of four years post MSW experience; experience in curriculum development; record of or potential for excellence in teaching; experience with diverse constituencies and engagement with a
collegial and inclusive culture. Excellent time management, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are also required.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree (DSW or PhD) in social work or related field; experience in DEI related efforts; record of scholarly contributions; candidate meeting criteria for assistant professor rank in the teaching or professional practice series; and candidates with online teaching experience.
