The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a Family Medicine physician with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine to join our team. This position includes primary care at the UW Health Verona Family Medicine Clinic and sports medicine care at UW Sports Medicine. This physician faculty will practice full-spectrum family medicine in the inpatient and outpatient settings. This position will be involved in teaching residents, medical students, and other learners. This position will include academic scholarly work.
Duties will include clinical care in primary care and sports medicine settings, management of a primary care patient panel, inpatient and teaching/supervision of residents, medical students, and other learners service as a team physician for the Wisconsin Badgers in the Division of Sports Medicine and potential other team physician roles with preprofessional and professional sports teams in the Madison area. Teaching occurs in clinical settings, on the sidelines of sports events and in formal scheduled learning sessions. Time and other departmental and campus-wide resources are available to promote scholarly work in the candidate’s area(s) of interest.
This position includes participating in residency faculty call schedule, covering inpatient med/peds. It also includes daytime, evening and weekend coverage of sports events year-round including some travel for away games and tournaments. Faculty are expected to attend required departmental meetings and perform administrative duties, as necessary to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. There may be an expectation for nursing home visits. This position may also include opportunities to work on collaborative initiatives within UW-SMPH & UW Health.

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation consists of 61 faculty physicians and 50 advanced practice providers in 8 subspecialty divisions/sections, 7 fellows across 5 fellowship programs and 40 residents between 2 residency programs. Our orthopedic program has been consistently ranked #1 in Wisconsin and in the top 50 hospital programs in the United Stated by U.S. News & World Report. The Division of Sports Medicine consists of 14 faculty physicians (6 primary care sports medicine physicians and 8 orthopedic sports surgeons) who provide cutting-edge clinical care, serve as the team physicians for the University of Wisconsin Badger Athletics and professional sports teams within Dane County and are deeply engaged in education and research.
