Job Summary:
The Communications and Knowledge Management (KM) Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist. The intern will support the EQHA II team in designing, implementing, and monitoring the activities related to communications and knowledge management across all three objectives of the EQHA II project. This internship will last between three to six months. The intern’s primary responsibilities include delivering effective and targeted communication messages through multiple channels to all EQHA II project stakeholders. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about the project and gain practical experience in coordinating with key EQHA staff. This role involves documenting and disseminating project lessons learned and best practices using various methods, aiming to strengthen the health system and enhance health services in both the public and private sectors in Cambodia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CONTRIBUTIONS:
Under the overall guidance of the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist, the Communications & Knowledge Management Intern will perform the following duties:
Technical Support
- Learn to manage the social media accounts of the USAID-EQHA II Project, ensuring regular posting of relevant and engaging technical content. Set and monitor goals for increasing the followers and engagement of the project’s social media accounts and recommend and implement strategies to achieve them.
- Coordinate with all staff members to source content for the social media accounts.
- Assist technical staff in designing behavior change communication and other materials, such as infographics, power point presentations, and more.
- Help with taking and editing videos and photos.
- Encourage all field staff to consistently document project activities through photographs and share them on an appropriate platform. Establish and manage a system to reward their participation. Utilize platforms such as FHI360’s SharePoint, Dropbox, Google Drive, Flickr, or similar repositories to store these project photos.
- Maintain quality assurance standards for all program products and ensure communication products comply with FHI 360, Royal Government of Cambodia, and USAID guidelines.
- Help with translating some communication materials from English to Khmer and vice versa and perform other communications and visibility tasks when requested.
- Stay updated on communication issues in Cambodia through networking and document review.
Program Support
- Support the team in capturing impact stories, lessons learned, case studies, best practices of the project implementation, photos and interviews with partners, the community and other stakeholders when needed.
- Ensure that the programs and services offered by the project align with the project objectives and reflect the program priorities.
- Work closely with other FHI360/EQHA colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students or recent graduate with bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications and knowledge management, information services, media and communications, education, health, behavioral sciences, life/social sciences, international development or a related field
- Experience in using social media for project communication
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, and practices with knowledge management methodology, communication and reporting, video taking, communication design
- Knowledge and experience in the health sector are desirable but not required
- Proven writing skills. Ability to communicate clearly, positively and professionally with clients and staff. Fluency in English and Khmer (reading, writing and speaking)
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in photography and videography
- Experience in communication design and infographics; preferably with Adobe software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Commitment to FHI 360’s safeguarding policies to ensure the safety of all people who come into contact with FHI 360
