The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing established financial management standards across the Cap Haitian project portfolio, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in supporting the success of the program. You will oversee the financial and administrative processes for each project, ensuring they are auditable, efficient, and compliant with relevant standards, while conducting financial controls at the project level. Additionally, you will support the Area Manager/Head of Site in fulfilling their supervisory duties within the framework of project administration and supervise the Cap Haitian office team, including logisticians, administrative assistants, and accountants. You will also provide guidance and support to project partner organizations (PPOs) on financial management matters, ensuring they meet their contractual obligations to Welthungerhilfe and co-financiers in a compliant and auditable manner.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure that project funds are managed according to the specifications of Welthungerhilfe and co-financers, including: Liquidity planning for the project; Fund requests and bank transactions; Bookkeeping and preparation of end-of-month accounts; Preparation of prompt financial reports and the financial part of expenditure reports in cooperation with the Head of Finance in the Country Office
  • Ensure proper documentation of data, account assignments, and bookkeeping entries in the bookkeeping software.
  • Ensure internal cost clearing within a project or between projects, ensuring correct allocation of costs.
  • Prepare documentation to allow the Head of Project to assume budgetary responsibility, including expenditure and budget control.
  • Prepare annual account documents in cooperation with the Head of Project and Head of Finance in the Country Office.
  • Prepare refunds, returns, and final fund requests to donors.
  • Instruct, advise, and supervise local administrative staff.
  • Make purchases and award contracts in accordance with valid regulations of Welthungerhilfe and co-financers.
  • Monitor and process relief supplies and other equipment, ensuring compliance with import regulations, inventory accounting, and physical inventory inspections.
  • Correctly manage project inventory and vehicle fleet.

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in financial administration, project management, and budgeting, preferably in an international or non-profit context.
  • Experience working with donor organizations, banks, and EU funding mechanisms is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and experience with collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, attention to detail, and excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s program countries.
  • Fluent in French and English (both written and spoken).
