FIRST YEAR PHARMACIST INTERN – OUTPATIENT PHARMACY (PER DIEM, ROTATING/VARIABLE SHIFTS)

The UW MEDICAL CENTER – MONTLAKE – OUTPATIENT PHARMACY is looking for a PER DIEM FIRST YEAR PHARMACIST INTERN. Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacist Intern independently performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions, such as compounding medications, filling medication orders, and preparing compounded sterile products.

The Pharmacist Intern performs all duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform certified order entry of medication orders into the ambulatory pharmacy computer system.
  • Fill prescriptions, under direction of a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Utilize ScriptPro Central for filling, labeling, and batching.
  • Assist with online processing of prescription orders.
  • Assist patients with new prescriptions and refills.
  • Determine payment method and assist patients with alternate sources of payment.
  • Perform charging and billing functions.
  • Assist in preparation of compound pharmaceuticals under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Refer clinical inquiries requiring a Pharmacist’s professional judgment.
  • Assist with Patient counseling
  • Discharge medication bedside delivery
  • Prescription transfers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
