Purpose
Provide instructional support for undergraduate courses in the Freshman Research Initiative in the College of Natural Sciences. Help plan and organize instructional materials and activities, and supervise FRI stream students in executing scientific research projects in their field. Familiarize new students with relevant background information and techniques, as well as work with mentors and continuing students to make progress on projects.
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. English proficiency. Completed previous scientific course work or laboratory work in a related field, as applicable. Accuracy and attention to detail, decision making and critical thinking, effective communications including writing skills, initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving. Ability to enforce safety guidelines in the laboratory. Strong student-centered approach and commitment to fostering a challenging but nurturing learning environment. Selected applicants must complete student information privacy training (FERPA training) and Title IX training.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Prior experience in the research field of the current opening.
$44,444 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
