The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and the East Asian Studies Center in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, invite applications for a full-time teaching-track faculty position in East Asian cultural studies, with a preferred focus on China and its interregional connections.
We welcome applications from candidates working in any period or discipline related to the study of China and its interregional connections. The successful applicant will teach five courses per year, including two large general education courses for the East Asian Studies Center (EASC 150gp East Asian Societies and EASC 160mgp China and the World) and three upper-division undergraduate courses in East Asian Languages and Cultures. The new hire is also expected to serve on thesis committees of students enrolled in the East Asian Area Studies M.A. program. The position will begin August 2023 and is renewable after the initial three-year term.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant area by the start of the appointment, and must demonstrate research and teaching excellence in the relevant areas. The annual base salary range for this position is $74,000 – $77,350.
