Job Description

Frith Street Gallery seeks a full-time Gallery Assistant to join its team.

The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of the gallery’s day-to-day operations, this includes but is not limited to front of house, directing phone calls, managing calendars, and monitoring artist publications.

In addition, the Gallery Assistant is required to oversee visuals from internal and external sources, editing and formatting as requested. They will also be an important figure organising our private views, events and publications.

This position works across multiple teams, providing support for the communications, sales and artist liaison teams.

Job Requirements

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a highly effective organiser and administrator with experience in a comparable arts organisation and a Batchelors degree in an art related field or equivalent.

The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator who enjoys being part of a team and can also work under their own initiative. They should demonstrate a flexible and hands-on attitude and enjoy the pace of a commercial gallery. Precise attention to detail as well as being able to prioritise under pressure are equally important. They will be expected to engage with a variety of people at all levels while displaying complete discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. Furthermore, they should have an ability to research and write clearly and accurately. Adobe photoshop experience and Microsoft Suite is required.

Job Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for visitors both physically and in any contact via phones and email.
  • Processing and cataloguing images from internal and external sources for our database and Artist archive.
  • Assisting our communications team with archiving press.
  • Providing administration support to the Sales and Artist Liaison teams.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of all Private Views and Events including RSVP listings and visitor experience.
  • Overseeing our artist publications, fulfilling our online and in-gallery bookstore.

The position is 5 days a week, 10am to 6pm with two-three Saturdays expected each month, taking a day in lieu the following Monday as a result. Applicants will occasionally need to work additional hours for events and openings. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
