1. Introduction 

The Global Scientist Interdisciplinary Forum at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) School of Medicine and School of Public Health and Emergency Management is an important conference for talent recruitment. It aims to provide a platform for academic exchanges among domestic and international scholars, promote interdisciplinary and academic innovation, and discuss the approaches for building towards a world-class medical school. 6. Qualifications and Benefits 

Senior Faculty (Chair Professor / Professor)

1. Requirements 

Internationally recognized tenured professor or associate professor with outstanding academic and professional accomplishments from well-known universities or research institutions. 

2. Support

Research funds：decision made case by case.  

3. Remuneration 

Salary: Globally competitive salary; Potential benefits of reduced individual income tax: income tax of highly qualified individual will be compensated by local government to a maximum of 15%. 

Insurances: Shenzhen’s highest level of retirement insurance, medical insurance, unemployment insurance, industrial injury insurance, maternity insurance and housing provident funds. Special high-level health insurance is negotiable. 

4. Benefits 

Housing and subsidies: Temporary on-campus apartments provided or subsidies to support off-campus rental housing. The university will assist in applying for the corresponding support programs according to the national, provincial and municipal policies. Successful personnel will receive the relevant project funding / award. 

Other benefits: Permanent residence or resident visa service for scholars and family (spouse and children) for those who hold foreign visas; The university will facilitate children’s education enrollment and spouse’s employment. 

Junior Faculty (Associate / Assistant professor)

1. Requirements 

Doctoral degree obtained from internationally renowned universities and institutes; or M.D./Ph.D. degrees from Chinese universities and more than 36 months of continuous overseas work experience, with a formal teaching or research position in well-known overseas universities and research institutes. 

2. Support 

Research funds: Funding will be provided according to relevant policies, which is on par with international standards. 

Eligible to participate in the postgraduate enrollment of Biology and Clinical Medicine as a mentor.

Introduction of School of Medicine of Southern University of Science and Technology

The School of Medicine at the Southern University of Science and Technology strives to build a first-class research medical school in Shenzhen to meet the needs of China. Our highest mission is to cultivate top-notch innovative talents with international vision and the courage to pioneer; and to explore the future of medicine, lead the development of disciplines, and create advanced diagnosis and treatment models. The current dean of the School of Medicine is Professor Songling Wang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous physician scientist in China.

1. Department development 

The school has established five academic departments, including Department of Pharmacology, the Department of Biochemistry, the Department of Medical Neurosciences, the Department of Human Cell Biology, and the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology. Three undergraduate programs－Clinical Medicine, Biomedical Science, and Dental Medicine, and three graduate programs–Clinical Medicine, Biology, and Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Professional) have been established.

2. Faculty resources 

The School of Medicine currently has 660 employees. Teachers have obtained about 160 talent titles at national, provincial or municipal level, and 58% of faculty members owns national talent titles.

3. Research results 

The School of Medicine has established several laboratories, including four at provincial level, three at municipal level, four at university level, and three at school level. In its short history, the school has achieved outstanding accomplishments in research, which continues to grow rapidly. As of October 2025, the school, including affiliated hospitals, published 4818 articles, had 474 grants totaling over 470 million yuan.

4. Clinical teaching bases 

The school adheres to the integrated development of the cooperation between the medical school and hospitals, vigorously promoting medical-education cooperation and resource sharing. It already has 19 affiliated hospitals, teaching hospitals, and scientific research cooperation bases, providing convenient and high-end medical and health services to citizens. 

Introduction to the SUSTech School of Public Health and Emergency Management 

SUSTech School of Public Health and Emergency Management was founded in April 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The school serve as an important deployment by SUSTech and Shenzhen Health Commission to address major global public health challenges, respond to the “Healthy China” Strategy, and address the fulfillment of people’s healthcare needs.

SUSTech School of Public Health and Emergency Management was jointly established by SUSTech, the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Second Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases). School of Public Health and Emergency Management has maintained close collaboration with its co-founding institutes, which provide tremendous opportunities for engagement in interdisciplinary research with frontline medical and public health experts. It is committed to becoming a dual base for the training of backbone talents in the field of public health in China and international high-level scientific research, a new think tank and a model of international cooperation and a cutting-edge applied discipline serving economic construction and social development.
