OYA Black Arts Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Black artists, creators and entrepreneurs within the entertainment sector. Our current Emerging Filmmakers program provides mentorship, networking, and essential skills training to post-secondary graduates of film, television, and digital media programs to kickstart their careers and increase employment opportunities. After three years of success, we’ve expanded our services to mid-career filmmakers/artists fostering the development, production, and/or distribution of their projects, and increasing the number and capacity of Black Entrepreneurs within Ontario

The Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator is expected to work closely with the Marketing team will be responsible for all graphic design needs, content creation for socials and assist with social media engagement.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

– Collaborate with the Marketing team and OBAC staff on content ideation
– Create, design and edit content on OBAC’s websites, social media, email marketing and all internal/external communications
– Assist with OBAC’s communications strategy and build support for the organization’s brand, mission, vision and values.
– Assists in managing all social media content (including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and calendars
– Engages with all OYA’s followers across all social media platforms
– Responsible for maintaining/updating company website and project websites on an as needed basis
– Assist with development social media strategies designed to increase OYA brand awareness
– Optimize content following search engine optimization (SEO)
– Post and stream live in real-time across all platforms during all company event
– Manage your project workload and time for revisions and approvals

Required Qualifications

To be successful, the candidate must have 2+ years of work experience in graphic design and marketing. They must be extremely organized and must be able to suitably prioritize tasks while working in a fast paced environment. Experience or understanding of the screen-based industry is an asset.

– Excellent graphic design skills and aesthetic
– Excellent written and oral communication skills
– Strong portfolio with a proven body of work
– Expert knowledge of Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
– Proficient photo modification skills
– Strong layout and typography skills
– Video editing skills to create short content for socials (reels)
– A keen eye for detail
– Solid organizational and file archiving skills
– Experience designing for digital communications (CRM and In-app)
– An understanding of the screen-based industry and video streaming platforms
– Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
– Proficient use of all social media platforms
– Ability to work independently
