Group leader in Genome Biology

The Centre for Integrative Biology of Toulouse launches its annual call for the recruitment of new group leaders, focusing this year on genome biology. We welcome applications from researchers working on highly innovative genome biology projects at all scales, from the molecular and cellular levels to tissue organization, organ function and populations. Projects can be based on any model organism, ranging from microbes to animal models and to humans. Projects at the interface of developmental biology, or using mice or zebrafish as models, will be given particular attention, although applications are not restricted to these areas.

The Centre for Integrative Biology of Toulouse is a prominent research center of the University of Toulouse and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). It is located in Toulouse, southwest France, on the main Campus of the University of Toulouse, offering a multidisciplinary education in the fields of science, health, engineering, and technology, representing one of the most important scientific research clusters in France.

The CBI currently brings together more than 400 scientists in 45 internationally recognized research groups aiming at decoding the mechanisms, dynamics and behavior of complex biological systems. Research at CBI covers all scales from molecules to the whole organism, groups and animal societies. The CBI fosters multidisciplinary approaches, combining physics, mathematics and computational and systems biology with classical biology to explore a wide range of research fields including microbiology, RNA, chromatin and chromosome Biology, cell and developmental biology, neurobiology and animal behavior, as well as computing and system biology.

Successful candidates will be provided adequate office and lab space, staff support, seed funding and mentoring to obtain a tenured position at CNRS or U. Toulouse and installation grants. They will benefit from access to in-house state-of-the art technological facilities, including photonic and electron microscopy, a bioinformatic facility, data storage and analysis facility and animal housing of which bees, drosophila, zebrafish, xenopus and mice facilities. Deep sequencing and proteomics facilities can be accessed in nearby institutes.

Outstanding early-career candidates, of any nationality, are expected to develop competitive, independent research and meet the required criteria for successful application to national and international funding (ATIP Avenir, FRM, ANR JCJC, ERC-StG or CoG, or equivalent installation grant), and to a tenured position in a French research institution (University of Toulouse, CNRS). Senior researchers holding a permanent position from these institutions are also welcome to apply.
