ON SITE Contract Job Opportunity based in Reston, VA.*Candidates MUST have a Ph.D in order to be considered for this role.*

• Purpose of the Team: We’re looking to build and create products, building a team around DC to support the effort. Design quantum devices, electrical engineering, etc.
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of – 15% meetings, 15% heads down technical work, 70% modeling simulation design.

Candidate Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required: PhD in physics or engineering is required to be eligible for this role.
• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain a PhD in physics or engineering

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience * Deep knowledge of solid-state (semiconductor and/or superconducting) device physics in domains relevant for quantum computer development | with 5+ years of experience

If this is you, apply.The main function of a quantum hardware design engineer is to research, design, develop, and assist in testing quantum devices and relevant hardware. They must bridge the gap between the fundamentals of solid-state components—such as quantum dots, superconducting circuits, and topological qubits—with the quantum architecture and other hardware and software layers of a quantum computer.Job Responsibilities:

• Research and describe key aspects of qubit and component technologies.
• Propose, design, and simulate novel approaches to qubits and qubit gates.
• Work across modeling, fabrication, measurement, hardware, and systems teams to advance key aspects of quantum computer subsystems and products.
• Monitor and having commanding understanding of present-state of relevant technology trends both within and outside the company.
• Serve as bridge between our team and hardware development and architecture teams to accelerate the product roadmap to a useful quantum computer.
• Evaluate factors such as reporting formats required, cost and schedule constraints, and need for security restrictions to determine product roadmap.

Skills:

• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
• Team player and detail oriented. Able to work in fast moving environment with team members who are geographically separated.
• Deep knowledge of solid-state (semiconductor and/or superconducting) device physics in domains relevant for quantum computer development.
• Deep knowledge of approaches to solid-state quantum computer control and architectures at the quantum plane.
• Ability to tie scientific progress and milestones to product and product acceleration timelines.
• Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
• Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.

Education/Experience:

• PhD degree in physics or engineering required.
• 5-7 years experience required (including graduate school education).
