Direct and manage the instrumental music and band program at assigned the campus. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and provide an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate
• Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation )CPR), and automatic external defibrillator (AED) certificate
• ESL Certification preferred or ESL Certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing band
• Able to manage budget and personnel
• Able to interpret data, instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

• Student teaching or approved internship and band directing experience

Hiring adiministrators review applications, interview, and recommend for hire.

Pay Grade P04

Kerr 197 – Probationary Contract, plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for a new teacher to the district

Salary Range: Min-$64,188 Mid-$76,656 Max89,122 (Based on previous experience)

2024-2025 Salary Schedule

Kerr HS $5,900 Stipend
