Head of State Street ConsultancyLocation: BostonAcross the globe, State Street helps clients manage risk, respond to challenges through solutions, and drive performance and helps create better outcomes for the world’s investors and the people they serve.Position OverviewThe Head of State Street Consultancy leads a team of internal consulting professionals focused on delivering best-in-class strategy and management consulting services across all State Street Business and functions globally and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer for State Street.In this role the Head of Consultancy develops strategic and ambitious goals for the enterprise in alignment with the larger strategy and plays a key role in the development of the departmental vision, while executing against State Street’s most critical projects including transformation, technology management, process engineering, and general management.The Head of Consultancy will provide innovative and best in class solutions, working with the internal business unit leaders based on identified needs. This will in turn help develop State Street’s approaches and methods, build change capabilities across State Street, and engage our employees at all levels in elevating the enterprise agenda of being a high performing global organization.The role will require using industry-leading methodologies to deliver and support specific State Street operating model and business process improvement projects and programs. Projects will vary in size, duration, and complexity, with measurable business value outcomes; and with executive-level sponsorship.In addition to participating on operating model, process improvement and process transformation projects and programs throughout Technology and Operations, the leader also owns specific workstreams to ensure delivery against project objectives, provides support as a thought leader in methodologies for process analysis, design, and implementation approaches as well as methods for projects undertaken by the internal consulting organization. The Head of Consultancy will report on the departmental body of work against its strategy, goals, and operating plans to senior and executive management.Roles Responsibilities:

  • Enable State Street leaders to elevate and accelerate further enhancing the operating model, process improvement and process transformation projects and apply agile principles, by identifying business needs, validating key pain points, and determining the business case for change. The candidate will use hypotheses, data analysis / analytics, and process mapping tools and methods to establish project scope and potential value and will also conduct and incorporate research and competitive analysis as needed.
  • Support business leadership in devising innovative solutions to address process deficiencies and value creation opportunities. The head of consultancy will also lead the planning and conduct of functional and cross-functional working sessions to develop future state process models that address business issues. Support conducting and incorporating leading practice assessments and benchmarking as needed.
  • Strategically lead a team that will lead enterprise change management approaches and methods and support the assessment of organization capacity and readiness for change. Work with business leaders to prioritize strategic pain points and lead the implementation plan for process improvement / process transformation that identifies timing, key projects / initiatives, resources / teams, and change management approach.
  • Lead the development of strategic project plans, establish, and drive steering committees, mobilize, and launch project teams to support operating model, process improvement and process transformation.
  • Oversee teams leveraging methodologies like Six Sigma and Lean tools as well as other common process measurement and change methodologies, and support State Street’s Process Improvement and Process Transformation.
  • Champion and demonstrate State Street’ s culture of innovation, automation, agility, continuous improvement, and operating as One State Street. Drive teams towards success-driven outcomes, such as reduced time to market, boosted quality, focus on client outcomes, and being a growth organization, while reducing reliance on external resources.

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

  • Several years of management consulting or Big 4 consulting firm experience desirable.
  • Proven experience managing fortune 500 engagements for transformation, operations, or technology implementations experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability partnering with executive enterprise leaders to manage multiple lines of business and corporate functions with particular emphasis on client technology, operations, risk, and compliance.
  • Strong ability to drive measurable performance improvements within a complex local/global organizational environment.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing through multiple economic cycles; experienced in publicly traded company preferred.
  • Proven track record in driving improvements towards an inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • Global financial service and banking regulatory experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience to board, executive management, and large groups.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing and leading multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to create and manage deliverables independently.
