Position Information Oxley High School (1050 students; 22% Aboriginal students) is a dynamic comprehensive high school located in the regional centre of Tamworth. Tamworth is a progressive community, affordable housing, a growing population of 55,000 people and easy connection to Sydney and Brisbane. Oxley High School has a close connection to the community through academic, social, sporting and cultural achievements. It is renowned for producing students of national and international recognition in the Arts, Sport and Academia and high HSC achievement. Oxley High School offers a broad range of electives from Years 7-12 including Languages, Extension English, Mathematics, Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Agriculture, Music, Gifted and Talented Sport and Theatre. Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1. Ability to lead evidence-based, whole school professional learning on quality teaching, literacy, and future-focused pedagogy, aimed at increasing staff capacity, including mentoring and monitoring teacher accreditation.

2. Skill in initiating, leading and evaluating whole school programs, differentiation, and assessment based practices that encourage engagement through a culture of learning and collaborative practice.

3. Ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and spearhead initiatives that align with the whole school strategic directions.

4. Proven capability in gathering and analysing data to strategically plan and innovate whole school teaching and learning programs, fostering motivation and engagement, and enhancing student outcomes.

General Selection Criteria 

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policy

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
