Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. WRPS is seeking a Health Physicist in the Production Operations Tank Farm Support department. They will provide guidance in support of company radiological designs and modifications. Characterizes radiation dose rates to ensure sufficient shielding is provided when performing work in or around radioactive material as appropriate. Responsible for ensuring radiological compliance in accordance with all applicable government and industry standards, rules, and regulations.
Provide comprehensive operational and regulatory guidance on company’s Radiological Protection issues.
Apply in-depth, procedural, radiological engineering and health physics principles for a moderate to large facility/project in scope.
Perform assessments, calculations, and/or monitoring to determine the proper radiological controls and shielding required to meet or exceed company/regulatory standards, while considering economic impacts as based on procedures.
Prepare technical documentation and models to support calculations based on procedural requirements.
Manage (tracking, estimating, etc.) and communicate changes to assigned schedule.
Verify, test, and check peer’s calculations for validity.
Prepare briefings, presentations, reports, and lectures to facility stakeholders and company directors.
Review design drawings to ensure verified calculations have been included as based on procedures.
Perform field walk downs as deemed necessary to ensure program implementation is performed as to the approved design.
Participates in work planning and execution, supports field exercises, conducts field surveillances, performs assessments and assists in the training of radiological control technicians.
May function as Health Physicist lead or Subject Matter Expert within company, as approved by manager.

Please Note: This position is being advertised under the current Tank Operations Contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS). However, now that transition activities have begun a candidate selected for employment may be hired under the incoming contractor, Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) contract. Further details will be provided during the hiring process.

Desired Qualifications
National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company’s philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate’s qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate’s prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $106,663
Hiring Range Maximum: $162,688
